Well... I have been working hard for the past few months (actually off and on since 2006) but more specifically this year, on running. My hubby is a runner and truely enjoys it. I was a sprinter in Jr. High and High School and was pretty quick. That kind of running I love! But have always wanted to enjoy running a little distance. I coached Girls on the Run this spring with my friend Kristie and thank goodness the program/curriculum is not solely based on running. It is a program to build self esteem and good healthy lifestyle and encourage positive attributes in girls grades 3-5. At any rate, this was the thing that prompted me to be more dedicated and consistent with running and I have finally gotten to almost enjoy running now (I love the way I feel when I finish, I am just learning to relax more and enjooy the actual run) I have run one official 5k race and plan to do another one or two this summer. I have been logging between 10 and 12 miles a week, running between 2 and 3 miles at a time.
Tonight I went on Steve's "recovery run" which ironically is his slow and short run... It was a little fast for me but it was a good challenge to keep up - I loved it. It is nice to have him push me along a bit. My goal is to keep it up and keep improving gradually.
